Protection Against RSV

Passive Protection Against RSV (Beyfortus®) is Available!

In our practice, we have started administering the monoclonal antibody Beyfortus® to protect against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV).

RSV causes serious lower respiratory tract infections (such as bronchiolitis) and is the most common reason for hospitalization of infants in the Czech Republic.

This is a single injection that protects the child immediately for the entire high-risk season (October – March).

Key Information on Coverage (Payment):

1. Fully Covered by Insurance (Free):
   • This protection is fully covered for all children born on or after April 1, 2025 (for their first RSV season).
2. Paid by Parent (Self-Payer):
   • Children born before April 1, 2025 and under 2 years old, who still have an increased risk of severe illness, have the option for application at their own cost.
